The 3rd Sylhet Film Festival started on April 23,2019 and ran till April 25,2019 on the university premises. This year three thousand and thirty-six films from one hundred and eleven countries were submitted for selection. From theses ninety-six shorts and four full-length films were selected for screening at the Central Auditorium and Conference hall of Faculty of Agriculture in the university. The first two days featured film screenings while the final day was primarily for seminar on films. The jury board in the festival comprised of Bangladeshi filmmaker Ashraf Shishir,  actor and scholar Manoj Kumar, filmmaker Muktadir Ibna Salam and Indian film critic Siddharth Maity. Premendra Mazumdar remained as the chief advisor of the festival for 3 consecutive seasons. The opening film of the festival was Indian filmmaker Arnab Midya’s ‘Andarkahini’. A photography show for children titled ‘Bioscope 3’ was also organised on the venue. Shishuder Jonno Foundation and Sylhet Agricultural University Film Society jointly organised the photography show. On the first day, a discussion session titled ‘Chalachitre Golpo Bola’ or ‘Telling stories through films’ was also held. Filmmaker Ashraf Shishir, Arnab Midya, Swarup Ananda and journalist Sandeep Ray Chowdhury took part in the discussion. At the inaugural session guests from home and abroad said that that Sylhet Film Festival has opened new doors for young independent filmmakers and would play a noticeable role in recognizing such filmmakers in the future. The season was sponsored by MAHA, a clothing store in Sylhet.
